How to Apply

All applications for NHS pre-registration trainee pharmacist posts in England and Wales are made on-line.

To make applications you will need to access this website which is www.pharmacytraining.nhs.uk

You are able to store your applications on-line in draft form and once you are happy with them, the click of a button will submit them and they will be sent to the hospital of your choice at the appropriate time. Once your application has been submitted, you will be sent an email to acknowledge receipt.

Once you log onto the website, there are step-by-step instructions on how to complete your application and select your hospitals.

Completing your applications:
This is a four stage process.

1. Register with the website www.pharmacytraining.nhs.uk

Click the 'register' button on the screen and enter your registration details. An email will automatically be sent to you with your username and password in case you forget them.

2. Curriculum vitae (CV) and referees' details

Complete the on-line CV, which will be the same for all of your four applications. You must submit the names and contact details of two referees (one of which must be an academic referee *.) It is important that you enter your academic referee's name and contact details by the deadline (see recruitment timetable) to prevent delays in getting references. You will also need to complete an Equality Monitoring form as part of the CV. The information in this section of the CV is separated from the information given to the hospitals for shortlisting. Anonymous equality monitoring reports are sent to the hospitals.

* OSPAP students are exempt from providing a UK academic referee as they will have already had references validated by the pharmacy regulator

3. Profile

Answer questions that give you the opportunity to sell yourself to employers and persuade them that they should offer you an interview. You have the choice of writing the same profile for all of your hospitals or tailoring your 4 applications to the different hospitals you are applying to. You can create and store as many draft applications as you like and these will not be submitted until you select your hospital choices.

4. Submit your applications

You can select your choices of hospital one at a time or all together. Then, when you are ready, click the ‘submit’ button to submit an application (CV and profile(s)). Once your application has been submitted it cannot be retrieved and amended, so check your applications carefully before submitting them. The website will not allow you to submit more than four applications and all submissions must be made by midnight on 31st August 2010 (1st round) and 29th October 2010 (2nd round). .
