The Pharmalife Recruitment Service
Pharmalife handles applications for pre-registration training placements in the NHS in England & Wales and for independent community pharmacies on behalf of the NPA. Our pre-registration training is designed to enable trainees to meet the General Pharmaceutical Council’s (GPhC) performance standards and pass the registration assessment for UK registration as a pharmacist.
Pharmalife also handles applications for vacation placements for pharmacy students for the West Midlands region only.
Pharmalife does not handle applications for other pharmacy jobs in the NHS e.g. pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians (student technicians) and pharmacy assistants can be made via the NHS Jobs www.jobs.nhs.uk Information about these jobs can be found on the NHS careers website www.nhscareers.nhs.uk. Pharmalife is unable to provide advice or answer queries about these jobs.
Are you eligible?
Before you register for this website or make an application for pre-registration training please check that you are eligible to apply.
Those eligible for pre-registration training placements are as follows:
Graduates holding a UK MPharm degree (applications made during the 3rd year of the MPharm course)
Overseas pharmacy graduates holding an Overseas Pharmacists' Assessment Programme (OSPAP) postgraduate diploma or MSc OSPAP (applications from OSPAP graduates, current OSPAP students or those with a confirmed place on an OSPAP course)
EEA Pharmacist with notification from the pharmacy regulator* to undertake pre-registration training. If you are an EEA Pharmacist please with notification from the pharmacy regulator to undertake pre-registration training contact Pharmalife directly on prereg@pharmalife.co.uk about the process on applying.
*The pharmacy regulator = The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) prior to 27.09.2010 and The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) from 27.09.2010
Those who are NOT eligible to apply for these pre-registration training placements are as follows:
Pharmacists who qualified outside the UK/EEA read more
Pharmacists who qualified within the EEA read more
Pharmacy students studying within the EEA wanting to arrange placements read more
Pharmalife does not organise placements for pharmacy students studying within the EEA and is unable to provide advice on obtaining these placements.

MPharm or OSPAP graduates who do not meet the GPhC time limits for eligibility for pre-registration training read more
The General Pharmaceutical Council has set time limits from starting pharmacy training to applying to register as a pharmacist. The time limit from starting the MPharm to applying to register as a pharmacist is set at 8 years. The time limit from starting an OSPAP course to applying to register as a pharmacist is set at 4 years.
